２０１９年５月９日。木曜日。晴れ。
なんとか体温は下がった。でもなんとなく気が重いので、草取りはしない。午後、充輝さん来訪。資料作り。古文書。

２０１９年５月１１日。土曜日。晴れ。
朝から某市で法事、訳のわからないお経とつまらない話を１時間以上も聞かされて疲れた。昭和20年以降に生まれた方が全員。極楽の話なんか信じるものはいないだろう。これでは仏教離れ、葬式離れが急激に進むと思う。来年は別室で控えておくことにしよう。

ロスコー・ノート(1) ロスコーの生涯


　
Henry Enfield Roscoe(1833–1915)
1833年、ロンドンに生まれる。父は法廷弁護士、祖父は歴史家で詩人。
1836年、父Henry Roscoe (1800–1836)逝去。
1848年、University College（ロンドン）に入学。グレーアム、ウィリアムソン等に学ぶ。
1853年、ハイデルベルグのブンゼンの下に留学。光化学の研究に協力。
1857年、帰国、Qwens College（マンチェスター）教授。フランクランドの後任。
　
ロスコーの祖父
祖父William Roscoe (8 March 1753 – 30 June 1831)はイギリスの歴史家でmiscellaneous writer
である。his poem for children であるthe Butterfly's Ballで有名である。
7人の息子と3人の娘があった。
ロスコーの父
Henry Roscoe (1800–1836)は、法廷弁護士、a legal writerで、父の伝記を書いた。"The　Life of William Roscoe"　（二巻）
ロスコーの父の兄弟姉妹
William Stanley Roscoe (1782–1843)は詩人。
Thomas Roscoe (1791–1871)はイタリア語の翻訳家。
Henry Roscoe (1800–1836)はa legal writerで父の伝記を書いた。
Mary Anneは結婚してMary Anne Jevonsと名のった詩人で、その子供がWilliam Stanley Jevons。
　
ロスコーの生涯
ロスコーはブンゼンの一番弟子であった。これは素晴らしいことである。今では、ブンゼンといえば化学実験に使うガスバーナ、それも最近ではこれをブンゼンバーナーと呼ぶ人はいなくなったが、その発明者であることと炎色反応の発見者であることぐらいしか思いつかないが、大化学者で、何でも自分で作る人だった。そんなブンゼンの一番弟子なのだから、エリート中のエリートであったと思ってよいだろう。
